About

Publisher.
Bestselling author.
Editor.
Consultant.
Curious human.

While my roles have varied throughout my career as a writer, editor, consultant, and most recently publisher of Sasquatch Books, there’s a through line: I’ve had the privilege and pleasure of working with visionary writers, culinary experts, artists, and thought leaders. And I love nothing more than cultivating and developing projects—be they my own or others—that resonate with readers on a national scale, enriching lives and sparking imaginations.

So a little more about me: Beyond my various gigs with book publishers, I’m also a New York Times-bestselling author, with a portfolio of more than 25 published works that span a boatload of topics—from navigating the complexities of modern dating to crafts to embracing the timeless wisdom of iconic and kickass figures like Michelle Obama, Nancy Drew, and Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Along with longtime friend and colleague Kerry Colburn, I co-founded The Business of Books, a platform dedicated to empowering aspiring authors on their journey to literary success. Through this venture, I guided a wide array of writers in crafting compelling book proposals and navigating the intricacies of an ever-changing publishing industry.

And now, rather than defining myself as any one thing, I’ve decided to own the fact that I contain multitudes—I’m bringing all of my industry intel, creative juices, and collaborative skills to the table to help writers realize their publishing goals. I’d love to connect and explore how I can work with you to bring your project into the world. Contact me at jworick@earthlink.net.

Testimonials

Taha Ebrahimi, bestselling author of Street Trees of Seattle

“Jen is magic. She has a knack for developing, shaping and honing big, complex ideas into manageable narratives and outlines. She makes anything seem possible with her far-reaching vision and finger on the pulse, which helps her know what audiences want way before they do. Somehow, she’s able to boil down something into its essence and guide authors through the whole messy process. I wrote my first book with Jen as my editor and consider myself lucky for that. She saw what others couldn’t… until the book became a regional bestseller. (Work with her if you get the chance!)”

Kerry Colburn, co-founder of The Business of Books

“Jen is a consummate professional with a wealth of publishing, marketing, and editorial prowess. She knows how to go after a good idea, whip the manuscript into shape, and tick all the boxes to ensure its success—without breaking a sweat. She’s also a thoughtful leader and relationship-builder, beloved by authors, editors, agents, sales reps, and clients of all kinds. If you need someone with both expertise and enthusiasm who you can trust to get the job done, you need Jen!”

Sarah Hanson, former president of Sasquatch Books

She’s a natural leader who brings out the best in everyone and nurtures talent among authors, colleagues, and business partners. Jen is dedicated, passionate, and brings an impressive publishing toolkit to every project. I miss working alongside her and would jump at the chance to collaborate with her again.”
